BBC TV CENTRE PLOT A

PROJECT DESCRIPTION – BBC TV CENTRE PLOT A

The Television Centre Plot A (BBC) building comprises 10 storeys above ground and one basement level. The building is mixed of use combining residential, office as well & of course the Television Centre for the BBC.

The building is concrete framed with Post-Tensioned (PT) concrete slabs from Level 1 to Level 10 and reinforced concrete slabs for ground and basement. The slab spans in 2 directions on a 9m by 9m (typical) grid between concrete columns that are then supported directly onto pile caps and piles. The typical floor plate is approximately 75.5m by 53.5m.

The building has two in situ concrete cores which act as cantilevers from basement level and provide lateral stability to the building. These resist horizontal loads from the façade, transferred through the floor plate back to the core and then down through the walls to the foundation.
